Eye of the Tiger

August 14th, 2008

I’ve set a WW goal for myself. And I’m making it public. They say saying goals out loud gives you more ownership over them.
I started Weight Watchers on 7/7/08 at 175.8 pounds

  • By my birthday (9/21/08), I would like to weigh 165
  • By New Year’s (1/1/09), I would like to weigh 150 pounds (my high school and college graduating weight)
  • By the time I have to get fitted for the bridesmaid dress for Michelle’s wedding (probably March), I would like to reach my goal of 140 pounds.

Too Darn Hot

August 4th, 2008

‘Cording to the Kinsey report
Every average man you know
Much prefers his lovey dovey to court
When the temperature is low.
But when the thermometer goes way up
And the weather is sizzling hot
Mr. pants for romance is not
Cause it’s too, too, too darn hot
It’s too darn hot
It’s too, too darn hot

- Ella Fitzgerald, singing Cole Porter

It hit 100 degrees in Dallas today for the 10th straight day.

Working Hard for the Money

May 6th, 2008

Lots going on at work today - in case you haven’t noticed.

That’s right, we launched the new Nuts About Southwest today!

(If you saw some random posts today - that was QA testing some trackback functionality.)

We’ve also created some screencasts that show off the functionality - so if you want to cheer (or jeer) at my internet broadcast debut - check out this post on the RD2 blog.

New theme!

May 4th, 2008

After almost two years, I’ve updated QCait.com! Hooray!

Makes me want to D.A.N.C.E.

Currently Obsessed with: Kate Nash

February 12th, 2008

Her enchanting melodies and adorable British accent (coupled with her lyrics about crushes and breakups and her noncommittal ways) make my obsession grow fonder.

Some of my favorites:

Pumpkin Soup

We Get On

Merry Happy
Enjoy and obsess!

No Doubling Back Now

January 9th, 2008

It looks like Jason Mraz is touring again.

It’s been over a year since he’s had a major tour, and I couldn’t be more excited.

Word on the street is that his latest album (due out in Spring of this year) will be called We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things. I’ve always thought the older acoustic stuff is better than the albums, and I’m hopeful that he’s been able to keep that vibe and “start all over again.”
Another promising note: the new single is one of my personal favorites of his: I’m Yours

If it were up to me, my ideal song list would include:

See you on the road, Jason.

Winter Break recommendations

January 12th, 2007

Today is the last day of my hiatus from my so-called collegiate life. Media consumed / discovered/ enjoyed this break:

Music: Regina Spektor

I am currently obsessed with this woman. Her voice is beautiful, the songs are just melodic enough but also very quirky, they tell great stories.

Any suggestions for a Wordpress plugin that lets me easily embed YouTube videos? Until I figure it out, here are the links:

Fidelity -
the single. I adore this video.

Book 1: Searching for God Knows What - by Donald Miller

More stream of consciousness - entertaining and enlightening - thoughts on Christian spirituality from the author of Blue Like Jazz. Very enjoyable, but I think I prefer Blue Like Jazz.

“Reality is like a fine wine. It does not appeal to children” -Donald Miller

Book 2: The Phantom of the Opera - by Gaston Leroux

A little slow, but I am really enjoying the historical fiction theme. I just got my hands on the original silent film, which I am looking forward to watching.

Topic: Social Media

Check out my post on the RD2 blog, shouting out to Time’s Person of the Year article and Web Strategy by Jeremiah Owyang. He’s kind of a big deal in the blog world, and he commented back!
