American Idol: My Predictions

February 12th, 2009

I am psyched that Fox is changing the algorithm for choosing contestants this year, taking a little more time to get to the top 12 and letting us see more of the selection process. Tonight we found out who the top 36 are (full list can be found here). These contestants will perform in 3 groups of 12 (each group made of both guys and girls) virtually every weeknight for the next three weeks, with America voting to kick off three from each group each week until we are down to the top 9. From there, the judges will also select 3 “wildcards” to round out the top 12.

My predictions for group 1:

Top 3: definitely Anoop Desai (funloving, soulful, Indian guy), definitely Ricky Braddy (really cool dueling piano bar guy)… and then either Stephen Fowler (adorable black guy who forgot the words in his last Hollywood audition) or Jackie Tohn (the super adorable cryer girl)… I can’t decide!

Wildcard: Alexis Grace (cute mom with pink hair)

Trainwreck: Tatiana Del Toro

I make this prediction based on her annoying voice, cringing cackle, and unlimited emotions (omg, the crying)… and BEFORE I knew that she is also a lingerie model who has posed in the buff! If you’re curious, the rest of the pictures are here (they are all fairly tame).

I don’t think Danny is relevant enough and I don’t think Michael Saver is good enough to win, though I think America will eat their stories up. We’ll have to see come Tuesday of next week!
