Best of the Fest
So the aforementioned Saturday and Sunday ACL pump up blog posts did not come to pass – but Austin City Limits Festival 2008 did! The following were my most favorite moments of ACL. If I left anyone out, let your voice be heard in the comments!
10. G. Love & Special Sauce
If the sound would have been better at the Dell stage, this could have easily been number one. And he played “Booty Call.”
9. Crazy Flags
For those of you unaware, people generally camp out under tall, unique flags so their friends can find them in the crowd. The more unique, the better.
8. Del tha Funky Homosapien
Really entertaining, and I loved that he sang Clint Eastwood. I’m intrigued how the Gorillaz ever perform live… it kind of creeps me out.
7. The Black Keys
I just love these guys. And I’m glad to hear Robert Plant likes them too.
6. Tristan Prettyman
TP was on the super small Austin Ventures stage, so I got a great view and the crowd was really into it. I’ve seen her three times now, and she doesn’t always play the set list I would pick – but I love the grooves on her new album… and she played just what I was in the mood for.
5. CSS
Between Lovefoxxxx‘s outfit and crazy hair and adorable accent… I loved every second. A la la la la la…
4. John Fogerty
Fogerty is a legend. And he played all the CCR songs I would have wanted… include the indelible “Fortunate Son.”
3. Sweet Leaf Tea
What’s a music festival in Austin without the refreshing perfection that is Sweet Leaf Tea? The lemonade/ tea half and half makes my life worth living in the heat of Zilker.
2. Gnarls Barkley
It was the last stop on their four month tour… and though C-Lo’s voice was a little scratchy, his energy was through the roof. I loved the tambourine.
1. Erykah Badu
This woman is a bad ass… and she’s ridiculously talented. Go buy all her albums right now.
